Description: The
Center for Development in Central America is a non-profit organization
that is located in Ciudad Sandino, Nicaragua. The CDCA works with
local communities to help create and maintain sustainable job
sources. Primarily, work is done directly here in Nicaragua,
although part of the mission is also to educate North Americans who are
interested in visiting for short periods of time. The CDCA has
monthly delegations from the United States, ranging from 12-25
people. There are also usually a number of long-term volunteers
who assist with daily functions of the organization. The
Volunteer Coordinator will work to facilitate the stays of group
volunteer delegations as well as individual volunteers here at the
CDCA. This includes being responsible for email correspondence
before and after volunteer visits, as well as serving as a liaison
between the CDCA staff and volunteers during their stay. For
group delegations, this will entail the planning and scheduling, as
well as translation, tour guiding, and overall supervision and
coordination of their 1-2 weeks stays here. For the longer-term
stays of individual volunteers, the V.C. also helps to find work
projects within their areas of interest in which they can be of help to
the communities here. These responsibilities to not typically
fill up an entire workweek, so the coordinator is also able to work
along with other volunteers on whatever variety of projects happen to
be going on at any given time.

volunteer information. Thanks!
If you are still interested then we
ask you to write us a letter (preferably by email). We hate forms but would
like to know some things about you to begin a dialogue.
What things? Well, how about... your age, your level of Spanish, your interests, why you want to come down and volunteer, your likes and dislikes, when you'd like to come and for how long, and anything you think we ought to know or just want us to know.
We hope to hear from you and thank you for being interested in this work. We always need all the help we can get!
